Beginner'sSeries - #7 Kanda Poha (Flattened Rice with Onions)

If you are new to cooking or want to learn some easy to cook simple food for breakfast, try this super easy Flattened Rice with Onions ( Kanda Poha) recipe.

Ingredients:
Poha ( Flattened Rice) - 1 cup
Sengdana ( Groundnut) - 1/4 cup 
Pyaz ( Onion) -  Half of a medium size onion
Hari Mirch ( Green Chillies) - 2 meidum size
Haldi Powder ( Turmeric Powder)- 1/4 Tspn
Cheeni ( Sugar) - 1 Tspn
Namak (Salt) - 1/2 Tspn or as per taste
Dhaniya patte ( Coriander leaves) - About 1 Tbsp
Tel ( Cooking Oil) - 1 &1/2 Tbspn

Serves - One
Preparation time - 4-6 minutes
Cooking time- 12- 14 minutes

Preparation method:
1. In a bowl take Flattened Rice and soak for about two minutes and then wash and rinse and drain out the water.
2. Take onion, green chillies and coriander leaves and chop them all and keep aside.
Peel and cut potatoes and soak them in a bowl containing water.
3. Light up the gas stove on medium flame and keep frying pan on top of it and pour in the oil and allow it to heat.
4. Drop the groundnuts when the oil is warm enough and saute till the skin starts changing color and turn slight dark. Remove the groundnuts in the bowl containing Flattened Rice.
5. To the remaining oil in the pan add Cummin Seeds and potatoes after starting out the water. Saute for about a minute and then add Turmeric powder. Saute again for a minute and then cover the pan with the lid and let potatoes cook till they soften up ( about 7-8 minutes)
6. When potatoes are done add onions, green chillies, salt and sugar and mix well with the help of flat spatula, and then cover the pan for about 2-3 minutes.
7. Take off the lid mix well and voila your Kanda Poha ( Flattened Rice with Onions) is ready. Granish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
