Beginner'sSeries- #8 Sevaiyan ( Vermicelli)


If you are new to cooking or want to learn some easy to cook simple food for breakfast, try this super easy Vermicelli ( Sevaiyan) recipe.

Ingredients:
Sevaiyan ( Vermicelli)- 1 cup
Pyaz ( Onion) -  Half of a medium size onion
Aalu ( Potato) - Half of a medium size Potato
Tamatar ( Tomatoes) - One medium size Tomato
Hari Mirch ( Green Chillies) - 2 meidum size
Jeera ( Cummin Seeds) - 1 Tspn
Cheeni ( Sugar) - 1 Tspn
Namak (Salt) - 1/2 Tspn or as per taste
Tel ( Cooking Oil) - 1 &1/2 Tbspn

Serves - One
Preparation time - 10-12 minutes
Cooking time- 10 minutes

Preparation method:
1. In a bowl take about 4 cups of water, add Vermicelli and put on gas to boil for about 7-8 minutes or till vermicell is soft and tender.
2. Take onion, tomato and green chillies and cut them all and keep aside.
3. Peel and cut potatoes and add it to the bowl containing vermicell kept on gas, so that the potatoes are also boiled along with vermicell.
4. Light up the gas stove on medium flame and keep frying pan on top of it and pour in the oil and allow it to heat.
5. When the oil is warm enough add onion and saute for about a minute.
6. Now add Cummin Seeds and tomato saute all for a minute and then cover the pan with the lid and let tomato cook till they soften up ( about 4-5 minutes)
7. Check the vermicelli and potato, if boiled properly tale off the gas and drain all the water and wash with cold water and drain all the water once again.
6. When tomatoes are done add green chillies, salt and sugar and mix well with the help of flat spatula, and then cover the pan for about 2-3 minutes.
7. Take off the lid add the boiled vermicelli and potato mix well, cover with lid and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes.
8. Turnnoff the gas and our Vermicelli ( Sevaiyan) is ready to eat. Serve hot.
